Mac Basics: Level I

This class is perfect for the beginner—either new to OS X or migrating from a Windows-based PC. Learn how to navigate and customize Apple’s latest operating system, OS 10.5, Leopard. Mac Basics: Level One is led by a certified Apple Professional. Use this class to:

  • Quickly become familiar and comfortable with the Mac Desktop and Finder.
  • Know how to get more information about folders and files.
  • Customize the Finder for speed and ease of use.
  • Optimize how you use the Dock.
  • Understand menus, including contextual menus.
  • Be more productive with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Learn useful, everyday Mac tips and tricks.
  • Know where to go for more information.

At the end of the session there will be time for questions. The instructor will demonstrate the class on a large monitor; there is no need to bring your own computer. The instructor will also provide take-home material, including a summary of the class.

iPhoto ‘08 Unleashed

Get the most out of the latest version of iPhoto. iPhoto ‘08 is much more than a digital photo album—it’s also a powerful tool for organizing, editing, sharing, and publishing your digital images in print, via email, on DVD, and on the web.

However, some of iPhoto’s best features are somewhat obscure, and can be confusing. Use this fun and highly informative seminar to unleash iPhoto’s full potential. In this class, you'll:

  • Get familiar with the iPhoto interface, including those weird buttons you’ve noticed but never used.
  • Learn best-practice iPhoto workflow.
  • Learn how to properly import your digital images.
  • Learn the various ways you can organize your images.
  • Learn how to quickly tag images, so they're easier to find and work with.
  • Learn the various methods of exporting images - and how to choose the method that works best for you.
  • Learn the various methods of backing up your images and iPhoto library - which is especially important.
  • Learn how to extend the usefulness of iPhoto with Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Flickr, Google Picasa, etc.
  • Learn how to use your iPhoto library with the rest of iLife ‘08.
  • Learn how to troubleshoot common iPhoto problems.
