Junior Systems Admininstrator

Location: Waitsfield, VT
Status: Full-Time Exempt/Salaried
Reports to: Director of IT

BASIC DESCRIPTION:

The Junior Sys Admin works directly with the Information Technology and Development department to provide support to our internal employees and assist with maintenance and upgrades of our internal technology along with occasional help with technical customer projects. Our environment is predominantly run on Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, and iOS. We also utilize Linux, Asterisk and some hosted services such as Google Apps for Business. In this critical role, you'll create outstanding experiences for our staff and customer.

We are looking for a trustworthy, friendly person with a wide range of technical knowledge who can solve problems and connect with our customers and employees during the process.

This full-time position is eligible to participate in Small Dog Electronics' comprehensive benefits programs.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • In-depth knowledge of Mac OS X and Apple devices, apps, and solutions
  • Strong networking (wired & wireless) experience
  • Excellent time management & multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent communication skills, patient, and comfortable with teaching others
  • Strong triaging & troubleshooting skills
  • Command-line experience
  • Some software and/or web development experience preferred, esp. PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • Mac OS X Server & client management experience, a plus
  • Database management, a plus
  • Windows& Linux experience, a plus
  • Shell/bash scripting, a plus
NOTE:

Current Apple certifications are a plus but not mandatory.

We are willing to train the right individual and cover the expenses of certification. The employee will be required to achieve Macintosh Integrated Basics Certification (MIB), Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) and Apple Certified Technical Coordinator (ACTC) certifications within the first year of employment. The employee will also be encouraged to complete Google Apps for Business Sales and Deployment certification. Other training opportunities will be made available as initial certifications are achieved.

S. Burlington, Vermont Openings

Entry Level Service Technician

Location: S. Burlington, VT
Status: Hourly, Full-Time
Reports to: Service Manager

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

1 - 2 years previous experience servicing Mac/Apple products preferred. Current Apple certifications are a plus but not mandatory. We are willing to train the right individual and cover the expenses of certification.

The right candidate will possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit - as well as good critical thinking skills essential for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, strong communication and customer service skills, a team-oriented work ethic, and obsession with the details. Good working, hands-on, knowledge of general IT concepts, basic laptop/desktop repair, software troubleshooting required.

This position is responsible for performing basic to advanced troubleshooting and repair of both desktop and laptop Macintosh systems manufactured generally in the past ten years.

Strong Windows experience is a plus. The successful candidate will be able to transfer customer data from Windows computers to Macintosh computers and integrate the data into Apple's suite of applications.

Requires excellent time management, multitasking, deductive reasoning, strong verbal and written communication skills.

This position works directly with customers and ensures an excellent customer experience, resolves complaints, and leads by example to provide optimum customer service.

Requires meticulous note taking and tracking of customer repairs in proprietary tracking software. Occasional check-in and check-out of service tickets and provide technical support on the phone.

Retail Sales Associate

BASIC DESCRIPTION:

We're seeking a friendly, dynamic Apple enthusiast to join our retail and phone sales staff.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

A fierce commitment to customer service, knowledge of and passion for Apple products, an understanding of the digital lifestyle, and keen attention to detail.

Strong writing skills are a must as we use email to correspond with customers daily, and Saturday availability and a flexible schedule are necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Managing workflow in a fast-paced retail environment, which also includes a full-service call center
  • Email correspondence and follow-up with customers
  • Article contributions to our monthly retail newsletter and blog
