My Quicksilver 2002 800Mhz was already upgraded to a Sonnet Encore Duet dual 1.6Ghz processor from Small Dog. Later I added an ATI 9600 Pro PC & Mac Video card. The only thing left to do with this old machine was to add faster SATA drives.
This card worked like a charm. I plugged a pair of SATA drives into it and booted from my Leopard disc. Disc utility saw the drives immediately and I was able to set up a RAID configuration with no firmware or drivers required. I then installed Leopard without incident. The RAID drives sped up my aging machine and I'll be good for a few more years!

This worked like a charm in my G4 (mirrored door) I wanted to add a mirrored pair to my G4 and was
surprised to find out the on-board IDE busses operate at different speeds. That's not good for
mirroring! So I decided to explore a SATA setup and found this card.
Snapped it in, mounted two SATA drives, cabled it up and turned the G4 back on. It booted on my old
Hard Disk into 10.2 just fine. I opened up the Apple Disk Utility and set the SATA drives to be a
mirrored pair and then formatted them as one HFS volume. I then booted on my Panther CD and told it
to reformat the pair HFS Journaled and clean-install 10.3 Once that was done it rebooted on my old
hard disk one last time and I changed the Startup Disk to the SATA mirrored pair and hit restart.
Voila. Booting on the new SATA mirrored pair without a hitch. And it is fast. I assume it is a
combination of the new OS and the new drives but it is kind of like getting a new machine !
