Overall, a great solution to reincarnating a four-year old iPod.
Getting the case off was tough, and the tool provided with the battery was not up to the task by itself. I
used a pocket knife to get the seam opened before getting the tool in and working it around. Once the
case was off, the directions were clear and easy to follow.
Nice job, Small Dog folks, in putting together a do-it-yourself solution at a reasonable price.

First off, just want to say that you guys rock! I was more excited about my little dogs that I received then how quickly I had a new battery my iPod.
The iPod replacement is a cinch. I found that if you squeezed the iPod the sides popped out a little and made for jimmying the thing a little easier, as opposed to working the slit up near the hold button.
Anyway, it works great and I'm back to jamming with my pod! Thanks Small Dog! Great service, great emails, great job. I'll be back, fo' sho'!

It was really quite simple to do. It took less than 10 minutes to replace.

Small Dog Note:
The only way to open the case is right at the seam at the top of the iPod near the Hold button. You may struggle to get the tool started but it will work. There is a point where the seam changes direction to get around the ports. Start at that point. (I had to use what felt like a fair amount of force but use your discretion)

I was unable to get the case apart. The tool provided seems inadequate for the job, although it
does not damage the case, it is also not able to open the seam to start the prying process. I spent
2 hours with absolutely no sucess at getting the case apart. I strongly recommend people consider
the $20 charge to have Small Dog install the battery. I wish I had read a review listing the
considerable problems getting the iPod apart before I had even tried.

I got mine today, dug the iPod out of the back of the van where it has been languishing for a year,
installed the battery, and I am jammin'. Who know old could sound so good? Thanks, Small Dog.
