Returns Policy

We always want you to be happy with your purchase, but we understand that sometimes things need to be returned. We have tried to come up with a fair return policy, and make it as easy as possible to facilitate a return. Our return policy is as follows, and as always, please feel free to call us with any questions.

Please note that ALL mail-order returns must be shipped back to our Waitsfield headquarters: 1673 Main Street, Waitsfield, VT 05673.

Returns

Unopened item(s) may be returned in the original unopened package within 15 days of your purchase for a full refund in the amount of the then-current price or your original purchase price (whichever is lower, less shipping charges where appropriate). Opened item(s) may be returned within 15 days for STORE CREDIT ONLY. Certain restrictions and exceptions apply. Shipping charges to return the product are your responsibility. Product must be unregistered with complete packaging and support material and ready for sale as a new product. Another shipping charge will be assessed against substituted merchandise.

Upon the return of an item within the return policy we will verify all parts are included and ensure that there is no user-caused failure of the item.  At retail locations most often this will happen ‘while you wait,’ but in the unlikely event that a service technician is required to examine the item and the service department is closed, we will ask that you either leave the item with us or return when the service department is open so that we may assess the item prior to issuing a refund, credit or exchange.


Refunds

Refunds for returned merchandise will be made in the form that payment was made. If payment was made by credit card, refund credit must be issued the same credit card as was used for the purchase. If payment was made by cash or check, Small Dog Electronics will issue refund payment by check within 7-10 days. NO CASH REFUNDS will be made at Small Dog Electronics retail stores.


Exceptions

Opened software, special orders, configure-to-order computers (CTOs), iTunes and Small Dog Electronics gift cards are not returnable. Special-order custom configurations (CTOs) are subject to restrictions. Most CTOs are not returnable; please reference our full CTO Disclaimer below for more information.

DOA Merchandise

All merchandise that is dead on arrival will be replaced free of additional charge (except for international orders, where the cost of shipping is the customer’s responsibility) within 7 days of receipt. In the case of factory-refurbished Apple products, replacement of DOA products may also be obtained from their customer support at 800-SOS-APPLE.


Shipping Damages

If you notice shipping damage upon delivery of goods to one or more of the boxes, please note the fact with the driver. Please contact Email tracking within 7 days of receipt of the damaged parcel. Once a claim has been made, Small Dog will work with the carrier to have the damaged goods picked up. We will arrange for repair or replacement of your product at no additional charge to you.


Refused Orders

All refused orders will be subject to a 5% restocking fee. Shipping charges are not refundable. In addition, refused orders may be subject to additional shipping charges to cover the cost of returning the products to Small Dog.

International refusals are subject to taxes, import and export fees, as well as return shipping costs and the 5% restocking fee.


Custom Configurations (CTOs) & Special Orders

No returns or refunds will be made for items that are special ordered for you or for unusual custom configurations of systems without the written consent of Small Dog in each instance prior to purchase. Please consult a Small Dog service representative with questions.

CTO Disclaimer:
CTO (configure-to-order) products are actually custom-built to fulfill individual orders. Because of this, we charge a $500 nonrefundable deposit for all CTO Macs. The nonrefundable deposit for other products may vary. The remaining balance of your order will be charged when the CTO is ready to ship to you.

CTO products are not typically kept in stock by our vendors and usually require additional shipping times. CTO Macs typically ship in 7 - 10 business days. Shipping may vary for certain products; email Email sales any questions about specific products.

All CTO Apple products have the same 1-year manufacturer warranty as non-CTO configurations. AppleCare can be purchased on CTO Macs, extending the manufacturer warranty up to three years from the date of purchase.

CTOs do not fall under our regular return policy. We do not accept returns or cancellations and all warranties are covered through Apple. If you receive a dead-on-arrival CTO, please contact our tech department at 800-511-MACS (6227) or Email support


Price Protection Policy

Small Dog will, upon request, issue a store credit (which may be used for future purchases) for the difference in the sale price if you meet the following conditions:

Price adjustments from manufacturers which are not part of a special are NOT covered under this policy.


Return Procedure

Returned merchandise cannot be accepted without a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). To obtain an RMA, please call Small Dog Electronics toll-free at 800-511-MACS (6227) or e-mail Email returns. Small Dog Electronics will NOT accept returns without an RMA. Returns made to a Small Dog Electronics retail store do not require an RMA.

In order to obtain credit for any equipment purchase, you must return the equipment including all manuals, blank registration cards, accessories and packing materials, etc. in the original packaging. The equipment must not be damaged in any way. Small Dog will NOT accept incomplete returns.

Returned goods must be shipped freight-prepaid and insured or returned to our retail stores. For more information, email Email sales or call a Small Dog service representative at 800-511-MACS (6227).


Privacy Policy

Small Dog Electronics is committed to protecting your right to privacy. We do collect information about our customers to enable us to process orders, improve our web site, and provide better products and services to our customers.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Read on to find out how this information is used.

When you go to Smalldog.com:

When you surf Small Dog’s website, you are anonymous. We don’t collect personal information, including your email address, without your prior knowledge and consent. Small Dog Electronics’ server uses a non-persistent cookie to collect your IP address, but does not reference it with any personal identifier. Non-persistent cookies simply enable us to maintain custom settings and items in your shopping cart while you browse. The non-persistent cookie is temporarily stored and is automatically discarded.

If you leave a comment on an article, it may be viewed by any visitor to Smalldog.com & blog.smalldog.com. Consequently, Small Dog Electronics cannot be held responsible for the privacy protection of any comments posted to the blog.


When you place an order with us:

To process and ship your order, we need your name, phone number, billing address, shipping address and email address. This information is transferred to our store using SSL encryption (Secure Sockets Layer), a security protocol that provides communications privacy over the internet.


When you register at our site or enter a contest:

We will enter it into the contest for the current prize.
We will send you email with the results of the contest and announcing the next contest.
We will very occasionally email you with special news from Small Dog Electronics.
We will give you an opportunity to subscribe to one of our popular Electronic Newsletters
We will greet you by name each time you visit Small Dog's website, if you have cookies enabled.
We will automatically fill out parts of your order form should you choose to order from us, if you have cookies enabled.
We will NOT give or sell your name to anyone else, ever!

When you contact Small Dog by email:

Should you contact us via email or otherwise specify that you want us to correspond with you via email, we will. We will not use casual email contact for anything other than response to your questions. We will not send you unsolicited email or other communications based upon your email contact to Small Dog Electronics.


When you complete a survey:

Surveys provide us with an opportunity to improve our product offerings, and enhance our website and services.


When you leave our site:

Small Dog Electronics, Inc. has no control over the privacy practices of sites outside our domain. If you follow a link to another website, read the site’s privacy policy and contact their administrator with your privacy-related questions.


A special word to parents of children under the age of 13:

Small Dog Electronics strongly encourages parents of young web users to play an active role in their child’s online activity. Children under the age of 13 should not submit orders, application forms, service requests or other documents to Small Dog Electronics without the prior consent of their parent or legal guardian.
