At Small Dog Electronics, we know that technology moves fast—sometimes faster than you’d like. If you would like to upgrade your equipment, we want to encourage you to recycle what you have. That’s why we created the Small Dog Trade-In Program. Read on below for current iPod trade-in pricing and to find out how you can get started on a Mac trade-in (new!).

  1. Contact us
    Call us at 800-511-MACS, email tradeins@smalldog.com, or stop by any Small Dog Electronics retail store and check in the machine at the service counter. Your machine will undergo an extensive suite of diagnostics to ensure it is in fully operational condition.* We’ll get back to you with a quote within (3) business days.
    *Remember to bring all of the machine’s original accessories: restore disks, power adapter, video adapter, etc.
  2. Opt-in (or out) of the trade
    We’ll send you our terms and conditions of the trade-in, you sign, and we apply the credit to your account so you may enjoy the latest technology. Should you decide to decline the trade-in offer, you won’t hurt our feelings—remember, you still own the machine until we buy it!
  3. Purchase a new product
    Use the trade-in money towards something cutting-edge! Give yourself a pat on the back for saving money and putting your previous machine to good use.

The Fine Print

By signing the iPod Trade-In Form or Mac Trade-In/Repair order for your computer, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • If you wish to trade in your iPod or Macintosh computer, call or email Small Dog Electronics at 800-511-MACS (6227) or tradeins@smalldog.com. For iPod trades, let us know that you’ve ordered a new iPod and provide us with the web order or invoice number.
  • iPods must be in functional condition with all ports, battery and wheels working (battery must last two hours).
  • iPods must be complete with AC Adapters, buds, cables, remote, software and case (when applicable).
  • Both Windows-formatted and Mac-formatted iPods are eligible for this program.
  • iPods with engraving are acceptable.
  • No iPods will be accepted without a Small Dog iPod Trade-In Return Number.

  • Computer trade-ins must be prearranged by emailing tradeins@smalldog.com or by calling our technicians at 800 511 MACS (6227) x605.
  • You are responsible for any shipping costs to Small Dog Electronics. Be sure to save the tracking information for your shipment, as we cannot be responsible for any goods lost in shipment.
  • Return numbers are valid only for 14 days from issue—products returned outside that time limit will not be accepted.
  • All iPods will be evaluated by our staff on a pass/fail basis. This determination is at the sole discretion of Small Dog Electronics. Passed units will qualify for trade-in; failed units will be returned to sender. There will not be any exceptions, nor “partial credit” given for your trade.
  • We are unable to accept all computers for trade-in. Currently, we accept Intel-based Macs with OS X 10.4 Tiger or newer only. If you have any doubt about your computer’s eligibility, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 800-511-MACS (6227).
  • Upon acceptance of the traded iPod, a store credit will be issued for the trade-in price as published below and indicated on the iPod Trade-In Number form. Customers who have purchased a new iPod or computer in advance of the trade-in may receive credit to the credit card used to purchase the new technology
  • Small Dog Electronics reserves the right to cancel this program at any time without prior notice.
  • Consumers assume all risks when shipping products to us for trade.
  • This offer is valid on the web AND at our retail locations in South Burlington and Waitsfield, VT.

iPod Trade-In Program

Get Started

Easy As 1-2-3!
  1. Purchase a new iPod
    Find your new iPod on our website, and either buy online or call us to place your order at 800-511-MACS (6227).
  2. Send in your Trade-In Request Form
    Download the Request Form here. All fields are required. Follow the instructions carefully, make sure to acknowledge all terms and conditions, and you will receive notification of your trade-in authorization # via email.
  3. Package and ship your iPod
    Upon receipt of your authorization #, send your old iPod to Small Dog for credit against your purchase of the new iPod.**

**Customers may select Advance Shipment on their Trade-in Request form. If this selected, the new iPod will ship before the old iPod is inspected and accepted for trade. Customers selecting this option and send iPods that do not pass inspection will not receive credit.
